The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete. 2 Corinthians 10:4-6
The weapon of the saint is based on faith in our Lord and the truth he represents. So let’s pose a question, does anyone know what the fiery darts of Satan look like? Along the same lines, Jesus said,
He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. John 8:44.
For the most part people will believe almost anything they are told when they do not have specific knowledge (the truth) that proves otherwise. The reality is that the people, who need to search the scriptures to know what God expects of them. Some don’t have the time and rely on others for factual information. Because of this the misinformation going around in the world about God is always tainted with unfounded beliefs. The bible says,
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline. Proverbs 1:7
How do we handle every imagination that sets itself up against the knowledge of God if we don’t know or understand God’s word? Although our body depends on the food produced by the earth we live by every word that comes from the mouth of God. By his word we stand and through his word we have a way to know the God that created us.
"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the Lord. Isaiah 55:8
Our thoughts are not always agreeable with our creator’s and the way men express his desires are not the way God expresses his. The world despises the wisdom and discipline of God and for that reason the world is breaking the bounds of decency through lies murder, stealing and adultery. Therefore, the world’s behavior is not organized to benefit the good of mankind but for the advantage of the individual (self.) It is no wonder that God said.
My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. "Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children. Hosea 4:6
The arrogance of the world shows that the hearts of man are deceitful above all things and beyond cure. They believe that they know more than God and believe they are worthy of going to heaven without ever consulting God. The outcome is that the worldly does not listen to the warnings of God.
Consider this point. God planted man in the Garden of Eden Genesis 2:8 without sin. One day God will send his harvesters Matthew 13:39 to harvest the earth. God has every right to expect an increase from his work to harvest an abundant crop of men without sin. On the other hand what is God going to do the crop that is corrupted with sin?
Should God then reward you on your terms, when you refuse to repent Job 34:33? Jesus said that unless you repent, you too will all perish Luke 13:3. As prudent men and women of God we know two things. On Judgment day God’s decisions will be based on what we have done and his decision will determined where we spend eternity. For this reason we need to make an effort to find out what pleases the Lord to obtain his favor.
God gave mankind a mind designed to consume information pertinent to his or her life. It takes a determined effort to learn specific information that enables us to make informed decisions to succeed in what we do. On Judgment day the people who will pay the consequences for their bad decisions because they neglected to learn what pleases their creator
From a human standpoint what was God’s purpose for creating mankind? Man is without excuse because God has made his power and divine nature known to man. Therefore, it is a choice to reject the knowledge of God knowing that God’s word discloses the eternal price for ignoring the knowledge that could save them. For this reason knowing what God wants from you gives you the opportunity to arrange your life in agreement with his needs.
The bible says.
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is — his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2
With the huge amount of misleading information about God we must work out our salvation with fear and trembling Philippians 2:12. God does not want anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance 2 Peter 3:9. Therefore it is just prudent to seek what pleases the Lord. And again God said,
I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. Ezekiel 36:27
Christians have a responsibility of becoming the servant of God who knows his father’s will. You are not alone for God will guide your life and show the way you should go.
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15
Jesus said "Watch out that no one deceives you, Matthew 24:4, Mark 13:5. Test everything. Hold on to the good 1 Thessalonians 5:21. Correctly handling the word of truth requires that you test everything so that no one will deceive you. Knowing the truth will set you free so you may do what pleases the Lord and gain favor in his eyes. Bible study is a determined effort to know God.
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17
The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world rather it is the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God. The sword of the spirit has divine power to demolish the strongholds of the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. What we must realize is that the stronghold of Satan is built on lies and deception. Knowing how to handle the sword of the spirit demands that you know the word of God and the truth therein. That knowledge sets you free of what will enslave mankind and enables you to overcome the power of darkness.
In addition to all this,
take up the shield of faith, with whichyou can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Ephesians 6:16
It demands that you take God’s word to heart and make God’s word the foundation that your life is based on. The truth of God’s word allows you to stand firm on the day of evil and the stand you take tells Satan you will not be moved. Taking a stand to honor God’s word no matter the cost is how you quench the fiery darts of Satan. The benefit of taking God’s word to heart is the only way to know the person of God the father and the son he sent. When you know God you will also know the grace and power of God.
Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. John 17:3
